  • Esso/BHPB have maintained an ongoing work program of modifications to the existing Bass Strait facilities in Bass Strait since first production in the late 1960’s. A large inventory of projects has been executed to extend field life and maximize the output from the resource base. Many of these projects are innovative and use the latest technology while others are of a more routine nature extending the life of ageing facilities.

The paper will discuss a number of recent projects that have been safely executed while the facilities have remained in operation. It will focus on the innovation and best practice used in the construction and commissioning of the work to achieve an outcome of no one getting hurt. It will describe the engagement of the whole team to a safe project outcome and the translation of engineering solutions to practical implementation in the ‘brownfield’ environment.
