ExxonMobil's Clean Fuels Venture
In 2003-5 Mobil Oil Australia's Altona Refinery undertook a complex and innovative modification to its plant to meet Federal Government mandated Clean Fuels specifications, reducing benzene in petrol to 1%, and sulphur in diesel to 50 ppm (now 10 ppm). The Altona Clean Fuels Venture was successful in meeting safety targets, budget, and schedule. Rick Purcell, Venture Manager, will share some of the challenges faced and overcome during the venture.
