  • Food engineering course is an applied course in curriculum of food science and technology (FST). The fundamentals of food engineering are on math concepts. Most of students that enter FST, are poor in mathematics.
According to above description a Quantitative Assessment Program (QAP) exam design and administrated on the 2nd day of classes. On the 1st day purpose of the exam is discussed.
Students who do not score well on the math exam are targeted for individual remedial work to help bring their math skill up to a level that allows successful completion of the food engineering course.
Between 3 groups of students, 2 groups that targeted to remedial work are successful in food engineering course. All statistical analysis carried out with SPSS software.
