To many people the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) produces radioisotopes and operates a reactor.
To our 2,000+ customers we use our knowledge, skills and technology to provide specialist services and contract and collaborative research in assisting them maintain their competitive edge in the world market. Our staff work with commercial partners across the health, environment, manufacturing, mining, national security, food, forensics and materials sectors.
Access ANSTO is the commercial interface of ANSTO which offers industry a single-point-of entry for our technologies and research expertise via commercial services, collaborative and contract research and strategic partnerships.
ANSTO manages national research facilities and infrastructure for use by Australian and international researchers. ANSTO is the operator of the new 20 MW OPAL nuclear research reactor, the National Medical Cyclotron, 10MeV and 2MeV accelerators and manages access to overseas synchrotrons and Major National Research Facilities programme.
Our new neutron scattering instruments at OPAL will bring world-class technology to Australian industry and offers new R&D opportunities to researchers in industry. High speed powder neutron diffraction allows us to follow nucleation processed and chemical reactions in the solid state over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. Small Angle Neutron Scattering gives us the ability to study industrial emulsions, polymer chemistry, biochemistry at the molecular level as well as diverse chemistries associated with nanotechnology. Inelastic neutron scattering will have considerable impact in support of conventional spectroscopic techniques, particularly in those systems where the dynamics are dominated by the motion of hydrogen atoms.
